About Me
This work is personal to me -and it starts with my own journey into motherhood
Who am I?
Hi, I’m Maisie Waldren - a doula, parent, and straight-talking advocate for informed, supported pregnancy and birth. I’m based in North London, where I live with my toddler, Romy, and our two dogs.
My path into doula work started before I had my own child, when I began training out of a genuine fascination with birth and how women are supported through it. When I became pregnant myself, everything I had learned stopped being theory and became very real, very quickly.
That experience changed how I approach this work. Birth isn’t something to be overcomplicated or over-controlled - but it also isn’t something you should have to navigate feeling confused, dismissed, or overwhelmed.
As a single parent, I also experienced pregnancy and early parenthood in a very real, hands-on way. While I had support around me, I also had to make a lot of decisions independently. That combination shaped how I now hold space for others - with honesty, clarity, and no assumptions about what your journey should look like.
I work in a simple way: calm, honest, evidence-informed support that helps you understand your options and trust your decisions.
No overwhelm. No fear-based language. No one-size-fits-all advice.
Just real conversations, practical guidance, and space to figure out what feels right for you.
What I do
As your antenatal doula, I support you through pregnancy with a focus on clarity and confidence.
That might include:
Understanding how birth actually works in a grounded, realistic way
Exploring your options without pressure or bias
Preparing for birth in a way that feels calm and doable
Supporting your birth preferences and decision-making
Helping you feel more confident in your voice and choices
My role isn’t to tell you what to do - it’s to help you feel informed enough to trust yourself.
Why I do this
I know how easy it is to feel like pregnancy comes with a script you’re supposed to follow — and how disorienting it can feel when your experience doesn’t match that.
I believe support should feel steady, honest, and human. You deserve to feel listened to, not rushed. Supported, not overwhelmed. Informed, not confused.
This work matters to me deeply, and I don’t take the trust of the people I work with lightly.
I trained as a doula with BirthBliss Academy and am fully insured and DBS checked.
